Altar Guild
"The love or care which one expends on anything indicates the value he attaches to it."
| In the Altar Guild, as in all our life choices, the above statement truly represents what is most important to us. We would like to share with you the reasons why being a member of the Altar Guild is so much a part of our Christian community here at Christ Church. | ![]() |
|
|
At present, the Altar Guild consists of a group of women, who share in the preparation of the Altar for weekly Holy Eucharist, for weddings, funerals, and special services through the Church year.

As the seasons of the Church change, we are responsible for the changing of Altar hangings, the flowers, the linens, the Eucharistic vessels, the candles, the polishing of our brass and sliver, the vacuuming, and the little things that speak of our devotion to "God's House" |
|
|
Some Altar Guild members launder and repair our beautiful linens, some cover coffee cans with beautiful paper so that we are able to transport flowers from the Altar to those who are ill, bereaved, or celebrating special occasions. Some of our members bake bread for Holy Eucharist. All these tasks are completed with love, which it is why it is such meaningful work.

|
There is so much more to this wonderful group-- some members have
served faithfully for one year, and a few have been members for over 50
years!! We usually serve in pairs, sometimes more, depending on the
Sunday for which we are preparing, Easter, Christmas, Pentecost, or
during Holy Week for special services.

||
| This is just a brief overview of the work of the Altar Guild at
Christ Church and we hope you will want to know more. Please feel free
to ask any questions you may have, and join us for an hour on Saturday
morning to see how lovingly we care for our Lord's house. Watch as we
prepare the Altar for the feast we all participate in, each and every
time we come to the table to receive our Lord in the Holy Eucharist, and
to share in His Resurrection. |
||
| New members are most welcome, always supported by another member, so that you will never work alone. Everyone is invited...men, women and young adults. Join us, come for a visit, and see what this Altar Guild is all about!! | ||
