Worship is the at the heart of our common life. It forms us, week by week, year by year, in the joy and discipline of loving God and loving our neighbors. Worship is where we join together and put all of our focus on developing and nurturing our relationship with the God who loves us without measure. We do this through hearing God’s word to us in Scripture, through singing God’s praises for the many blessings we enjoy, through seeking God’s forgiveness for the wrongs we have done, through sharing Christ’s peace and receiving the sacrament of his Body and Blood, and finally through our service to the world in his name.
If you are visiting Christ Church for the first time, we welcome you! Our 8am Sunday worship service tends to be small and has a quiet and contemplative tone. The service includes Scripture, a sermon, prayer for one another and the world, and the sharing of Communion. Our 10am Sunday worship service is larger and adds music in support of congregational singing.
Children of all ages are most welcome at both services. We offer a comfortable glider chair in the back of the church for parents who might need to rock small children. We also offer a child-focused area at the front of the church that includes story bibles, coloring supplies, and soft toys. We find that when children can see what is happening at church, they are more engaged, absorbing the experience even while coloring or playing. Our hospitality toward children in church is inspired by the wood carving at the altar. It depicts Jesus, surrounded by children, blessing them, and telling his disciples, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs” (Matt 19:14).
Again, welcome to Christ Church. We are delighted you have found us online, and we look forward to greeting you in person!
